Halifax problems

Hi
Recently i remortgaged or had a review with the above. I was told by the adviser my first payment would be £708 today, then today they took £945 ish. When i asked why? I was told i had to pay initial interest. I was then told my payment would then reduce to £814 or something similar from November. Yet I have it in writting the payment to be taken today should have been £708.
Help what is my next move, I am going to see the advisor tomorrow with the paperwork.

Did you remtg, or have an internal rate review.

I could expalin initial interest and effects of it on a remtg, but the above would be an issue- also why not wait to see what they say tomorrow- as that would certainly sound like "your next move"

  • I remortgaged, they said the initial rate is for money they put int my account during Sept while I payed the old mortgage. Interest over £200 But what I don't understand is the jump in repayments, especially as I have it in writing. The advisor had no record as she couldn't access the data.
So I will be there tomorrow paperwork in hand.
    Thanks

PS: Still open for advice and can they charge me more than they quoted.

    1. If variable rate- has rate gone up since applied

    2. Initial interest- yes they do charge for that period- but the redemption from the previous lender should have reflected the fact you paid it mid month
    - or as often is the case your last payment is not always included in the redemption statement used by the solicitors, and get refunded
    - so make sure you get a closing statement to check the amount the sols repaid is the same as shown on statement and his breakdown - plus the last payment is allocated to account prior to closing

  • The old mortgage was with the Halifax as well.
