Some people will be happy with their Clarks shoes but large numbers are not. Have you seen the number of people complaining about this on Trustpilot?

It's a point worth repeating, simply because the Clarks fanboys won't accept that there's a problem just because their particular shoes weren't affected.

The power of a brand to suck people in is incredible, and when that brand behaves irresponsibly, and just tries to sweep its mistakes under the carpet, it needs attention drawn to it.

You don't, of course, need to follow the thread. :)

Actually I have experienced a quality problem with one of my pairs, but the satisfaction I get from my numerous other pairs means I'm not that bothered by it. Maybe it's a female thing - loads of shoes! - or the fact that I never pay over 1/2 price for any of them.

Haven't Ecco also had some sole disintegration problems? I find Clarks' last about nine months of weekday wear, which is okay for the (sale) prices IMO. They also do half sizes, meaning they actually fit rather than having to compromise and buy the next size up.

I'm genuinely surprised to learn of this problem with dissolving soles. Almost every pair of shoes I own is a pair of Clarks (that's 11 pairs of boots, shoes and sandals), they sit in my wardrobe or shoe rack happily for years and nothing has ever happened to them. When I have worn them for about 7 years straight and the linings wear out, I'm happy to accept that and buy another pair in the sales.
