I have been looking at getting advance tickets for a rail journey.
The journey is from a station on the Reading to Guildford line (GWR) to Gatwick Airport.
I am too early to book yet, but checked the cost for a ticket for 1st September (as far as it will go at the moment) and it is the same as the current price.
Either they do not do advance tickets for Gatwick or I am doing something wrong, really do not like railway websites anyway, they seem to put a lot of obstacles in your way, but if I could get these tickets cheap I would be very pleased.
So if it possible could someone tell me how please?
Thank you.

I think on that line the best you can do is an off peak ticket. Cheap tickets for specific trains aren't available as you've seen.
If you are returning after going on a plane you probably don't want to be tied to a particular train anyway. You run the risk of either a long wait if you are out of the airport quickly or missing your train if there's a delay.0 -
