I've watched a fair few property programmes and I am I utter shock of some of the budgets. As I still live with parents and would be difficult to buy a house and afford to live in it.

Anyways I've seen a first time buyer couple who have secured a mortgage of 250,000 without even having a property to put it against. I thought you had to have a property to show the bank that your thinking of buying it before getting a mortgage offer.

Also shocked another couple have 415k and first time buyers as well

They won't have "secured" a mortage, just got an agreement in principle that that's the sort of money they can borrow on their salaries.

People on these programmes tend to be outliers, hence the amounts they can borrow, they aren't going to spend a lot of time showing someone buying a £75k 1 bed flat.
