Self employed mortgage advisor

Hi,

Anyone done this? Thinking of retraining. Checked out the cemap qualifications already.

I'd love to be able to work for myself. Obviously I understand the pitfalls that could come with that.

I've heard that for a monthly fee or a % of deals completed there are companies that supply leads?

Anyone know any companies I could check out? Or any advice?

I am a mortgage advisor for a bank, and have done this job for around 6 years.

Alot of the people I know prior to begin this work in a bank to gain vital experience, and crucially competent advisor status, prior to venturing out to brokerages or becoming self employed.

It may be worth applying for a trainee mortgage advisor position, perhaps in a bank, to demonstrate competence and obtain FCA accreditation, once you pass your CeMap, rather than going straight for the self employed route.
