URGENT London and Country

Options
Hi all

We submitted our mortgage application with London and Country (Santander) around 3 weeks ago, We got an email the week after saying valuation on Monday 15th May. Last week EA asked us how the valuation went but we haven't heard anything yet. I rang up our case manager and he said oh Santander want some extra documents for proof of address.... (I don't know when he planned on telling us this if I hadn't of rung.) I sent these last Thursday so were hopefully there at weekend. He still hasn't answered the question about the valuation! Estate agent asked again on Monday. I left a voicemail on Friday and Saturday for him to call me back as there was no answer. I also emailed him on Friday and this morning but still no answer. I rang the L and C main number today to check he wasn't on holiday or something and was told he was in the office but wasn't answering his phone so she would email him to get back to me!! Still not heard anything! The original message I got from Santander said they need to receive all requested documents within 10 working days, this has now passed since the original application but I was only told about the extra documents last Wednesday and sent them the next day!

I am also worried that the vendor might get fed up with waiting. I know 3 weeks isn't a long time in house moving terms, but we haven't instructed searches and survey yet as wanted to get mortgage sorted first.

Can anyone offer any advice on what I should do? Seems absolutely obsurd I have left 3 voicemails and 3 emails and still not had a call back!

Many thanks

Danny

    Raise a complaint.

L&C don't really care. They are a stack em high broker.

Complaint is about the only way you will get them to notice you.

    Thanks Mike

I am tempted to just ditch them and apply directly to Santander myself as the rate I have been matched with is just the same as on the Santander website....

    Bank holiday Monday.

Phone L&C again. If you do not get an answer you are happy with then ask to be put through to their complaints department and tell them you are not happy with their level of communication.

Telephone factory line style mortgage brokers frequently have this issue when it comes to communication. It could happen with any method but that method has to deal with so many at once and they can get snowed under. After they hang up with you, they are on the phone to the next person with only short periods to allow for work in between. This is why a local broker is more often than not the better option.

    Not a good idea.

I was going to go with L&C but I read their reviews on the internet and Facebook and it put me off reading about the numbers of people who lost their houses due to the delays they caused! If you post a complaint on their Facebook page someone from L&C normally replies to contact them to resolve. Good luck and hope you get some answers soon.
