Belt rash

Everytime I wear a belt I get a rash on my stomach from the belt buckle so is there a certain belt that I can buy to stop me getting a rash.

  • it might be related to nickle in the buckle.. if so a nickle free version may help.

You can try painting the back of the buckle with clear nail varnish - that sometimes stops the reaction.
  • If/when this happens to me I put vaseline on my skin as a barrier. But it would be best to get a different belt - as mentioned above it could contain nickel or you might be reacting to something else.

Is the belt touching your skin? Could you be reacting the metal in the trousers pushed into your skin, or just the tightness - perhaps making a warm damp place, or rubbing.

Could you try a bit of rope or a tape tied to improvise a belt just to see if that solves the issue before buying anything?

It's safe to assume that all metal trimmings on clothes contain nickel.

When I was wearing a leather belt it gave me a rash but when I bought a pair of jeans with a canvas belt I stopped getting a rash so I thought I was allergic to leather, I've now bought another canvas belt and it's given me a rash so it's looks like I'm allergic to the metal buckle.

One with a smaller buckle so it doesn't touch the skin?
