Most annoying "winner announcement" email I've ever received!

We all know about those annoying winner announcement emails, where the title makes it sound like you may have won and you open it to find it's just announcing someone else as the winner (often accompanied by a "runners up special offer" of 20% etc.). Well, today I got the most annoying one ever!
Along with some graphics advertising their company and a photo of the prize, the only text said:
Our competition is over and we have a winner......[my name].....it's you!
So I emailed them back and their reply was:
"We have already contacted the winner, so there must be 2 of you who entered with the same name. That's a shame, better luck next time!"
Haha just about sums up my general luck! :rotfl:
I'm disappointed (would have been my first prize of the year, not including the 50p Quidco, 30p TopCashback & a soup mug!), but it's not a big deal, laughing about it and just thought I'd share with you all, so that next time you get an annoying winner announcement email, you might not feel quite so disappointed when it's not your name, as it could be worse!
[Although, I think their reply could have been slightly more polite. Personally, I would have at least said something along the lines of sorry for any confusion/disappointment etc. rather than just: That's a shame, better luck next time!]

Is you name common?
How do they know the other person is the right one?
They sent the winners email to YOU
I would be checking around the comping circles
It has also been known for others to claim a person prize before too“I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.” - Billy Joel

It's not that common, but I know there is another comper with it, as I've seen her on Facebook. They know they have the right one, because you had to enter your email to enter, as well as your name.0 -
The Code of Sales Promotion ( if anyone still abides by it ) requires the winner's name AND the County where they live to be made available.
Nowadays it is often only the winner's name that appears. Nothing else!0
