kyle food shopping is so easy there. dont worry about it. the supermarkets are so much better than here. lots of fresh produce, beautifully displayed and much cheaper. Spoil yourself though. its your holiday too. enjoy eating out, it is so cheap and its part of the fun! our kids loved the all you can eat places.

    where are you staying?

would recommend stopping at a supermarket on the way to the villa because its such a long journey its a nightmare to think about going out again! we have always done that. had a meal, swim in the pool and an early night. and then you are ready for the fun to start the next day!

  • You'll be able to get lovely bread at health shops, which are usually huge (the shops that is) compared to over here.

I want to move to theory. Everything works in theory.
  • Hi Hun

    We always take to Florida:

    Nescafe
    Tetley Tea Bags
    2 x Tin Baked Beans
Sachets of Bread mix to make rolls, as their bread is very yeasty (we loathe it!)

Everything else you can buy over there in Walmart, Publix or a Win Dixie.

Their fresh food lasts longer over there and you will have a huge fridge/freezer if staying in a villa. I would shop for about 5 days at a time. All fresh food is reasonably priced and will be cheaper to eat over there than here.

TBH in the parks the food isnt that expensive and it can be annoying dragging around a picnic. There are lockers that you have to pay for but you wouold have to walk ages to get back to them when hungry. I would just take some cereal bars, crisps and fruit (quite light and easy to place in a rucksack) and buy a couple of burger/chicken meals and share them. Portions are huge over there and a green salad will be about £1.00. Bottled water is quite cheap to buy too but to keep costs down, buy one then refill.

Most chains when eating out count carbs and this will help with your sons diabetes...hopefully.

KFC do 2 plate meals for $5 (£2.50) and you get 2 pieces of chicken, mash, corn on cob, biscuit and their chicken gravy (delish) They dont serve fries in KFC in the states but their mash and meals are excellent value and very tasty if you dont feel like cooking. Pizzahut is half the price of here.

We normally go to Black Angus if we are eating out or Golden Coral. We dont like Ponderosa as we find the quality not very good although it is cheap! Sizzler is ok though. Remember that all steak and burgers will be cooked medium unless you ask otherwise. The buffet breakfasts are good quality at about £2.25 each:D Remember that all refills are normally free in restaurants.

In all shops over there you can get coupon books that will give very good discounts and they get offended if you dont use them.

When you fill the car with petrol, you go in and pay first. Just do $10 at a time as it is so cheap over there.

Anything you are not happy with...complain as the americans are very fussy with certain things and they want you the consumer to be happy with their service.

Remember also that waiter/waitreses are all on minimum wage (£2.50ph roughly) so they depend on their tips. A standard tip is about 15% but if you enjoyed the service and you will always get good service there as they need the money, we normally leave about 20%. If you are truly unhappy with service dont leave a tip and explain why...they like the feedback...but this will be a rarity.

Loads more, so any more questions....just ask.

I would recommend Publix as well we found them to have a great selection of fresh foods if you like fish they had a good collection. the first week we did the typical eating out all the time breakfast all you can eat Ponderosa and Sizzler etc we preferred breakfast at Ponderosa wasnt so keen on their evening menu but by the end of week one we found ourselves buying most of our food and cooking on the barbecue which we all enjoyed the kids chilled out in the pool and we would always finish up in the hot tub with a glass of wine of course! wish I was coming

  • As someone else suggested, we normally go straight to Walmart from the Airport as you will be too knackered to go back out again. Make a small list of stuff you want to get to cover you for a couple of days, then get to villa and chill! You can buy ready cooked lovely chickens on the rotisserie/deli and huge bags of salads and their baking spuds are lovely and fluffy too!

Their milk cartons are huge as they do them in gallons, so you will only need a quart:rotfl:

Make sure you drink enough fluids whilst over there as dehydration is one of the biggest problems with feeling sick and passing out.

The humidity will hit you as soon as you leave the airport.

I am so jealous:o ....we are going back next year and cant wait!

Hugs and have a great time. Relax and enjoy.

Say hi to Micky and Shamu:D

We are back there again in January and I cant wait. We eat out all the time - Golden Corral is a brilliant buffet restaurant. I prefer it to Ponderosa as the corral does fried eggs. To be truthful we went there most mornings and ate so much we really didnt need lunch - just a small snack.

I would really avoid places like macdonalds as for a couple of dollars more you can get a much better meal.

One thing we always do and is mse in a way is eat at the eat as much as you like lobster place - costs about 100 dollars for 4 of us but last time OH ate 7 lobsters - I had two - you just couldnt do that in England.

Will be interesting to see what the food will be like in the disney parks now - apparantly they have banned junk food! The parks are the most expensive places to eat but as I said we just fill ourselves up with a huge breakfast.

We are off on the 24th Jan and are counting the days.

Oh and by the way I never take toiletries with me - we are lucky to have a walmart near our hotel and we stock up there - that place is sooo cheap.
