I also took advantage of this offer and bought a pair of boots. They arrived and looked cheap but I liked them. I didn't wear them for a while because the weather was anything but boots weather.
Wen it took a turn at the end of July / beginning of August. I wore them twice.
The heel of one fell apart. I took photos and sent them to Everything5pounds.com.
They said I'd had them too long to qualify for a refund / exchange. I wrote back and tweeted them but all my messages were ignored. I sent another and they said customer services would be happy to help. They obviously weren't and nothing has been done.
It shouldn't matter whether they were £1.99 or not. They clearly say their products are of good quality.
I don't want to waste my time and energy but I don't think they should get away with this.
I can't add a photo yet but I couldn't walk on the heel due to the damage.
