I think it's a good idea to be honest0

My Dd has a large bag for life from one of the supermarkets and when we drive down to Southampton on holiday she puts a blanket at the bottom and pops her little dog on top so he is cosy and my car doesn't get covered in his hair. He curls up quite happily and drops off to sleep
I never use the supermarkets plastic bags I have a couple of plastic laundry baskets that I take with me when going to the supermarket as they are easier to pick up from the boot of the car and carry indoors I wheel my shopping trolley to the car to unload my shopping when I shop No need for a plastic bag at all

My neighbour, single male late 20's, gets the 10p bags for life, then chucks them in the landfill bin. Never recycles anything except for garden waste, everything else goes in the grey bin.

I spoke to an assistant in my local Tesco. She said the 5p bags will come back but will be made of 95% recycled materials. I'm in one of the test areasLost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Same here.
I also see families living in social housing that have never bothered to bring their own bags. I live in a group of housing which has social houses so see these families at my work and other shops in the area.
I remember the other week, I was behind them in Boots and bought just one tub of hair gel. Bought a 5p bag for that. They could just slip that into another carrier bag which only had one item.
They don't recycle as I'm the only one that does. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The 5p bags can be recycled, most supermarkets have a small recycling bin near the entrance. Now I can get rid of my 5p bag stockpile with a clear conscience!0

I always pick up some bags out of it on the way in. saves me paying 5p.:D0 -
We try and plan our shopping so make sure there are sufficient bags in the car. We have acquired a good range of cotton and jute bags from food fairs. If we know we are buying a lot of frozen food we take cool bags, we have a high tech one from Lakeland which is on wheels and keeps frozen food frozen for hours.
Theres always some sort of bags in the car.
We won't buy the supermarket 5 p bags because of the damage they can do. The following is heartbreaking
"A whale is found dead with more than 30 PLASTIC BAGS in its stomach – and experts say it's 'not surprising'. The whale had been put down by wardens off the coast of western Norway. Researchers dissected its stomach and found huge amounts of plastic. The whale was also emaciated with little blubber suggesting it was malnourished"
When I was at University in the early 1970s free mass produced carriers did not exist. The supermarkets gave out large, strong paper bags which were environmentally friendly and could be burned if you had an open fire. I, for one, would love to see a return of tbese:D0 -
About 3 years ago I bought about a dozen of this sort of bag http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Folding-Pouch-vegetables-Storage-Reusable-Shopping-Portable-Shoulder-Handbag-/272579382362?hash=item3f76ff4c5a:g:Q0YAAOSwol5YvVCT
From China really cheaply and still have about 6 of them left. none of them have ever broken but I lost a few by guests or family picking one up to take something home in and not bringing it back.
They are not massively big (despite the misleading photo) but for just a few bits and pieces they are ideal and I keep at least one in my handbag. For larger shops I use heavy jute bags.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
