If you've been carrying a balance of over £400 on an old card (presumably not at 0%?) then are you earning more on your savings than you're paying in interest on your debt? Seems odd to be carrying (what may be) an avoidable debt into a mortgage application....
Valid point, well made.
The debt on this card is minimal (even more minimal now, damn it!) and I've been paying it off in line with fluctuations in my income so not much interest gathering. Only about £500 balance now.
I am due to be paid £1k extra next month for extra contracts.
And of course, this credit card isn't shown on credit history...so not a lot to gain by paying in full.0 -
