Advice needed for options re paying of loans first or mortgage

Deeds - as I understand it, it's all electronic these days but if there's paper copy then your mortgage provider or solicitor is likely to hold these.
What I did was leave £500 outstanding on the mortgage - only costs under a tenner a year - and let the mortgage co keep it for a few years (paid off now) but if you want a paper copy download from Land Registry for £3 and print out your own copy.
Also sign up for Land Registry alerts so that they will send warnin gs if anyone accesses your records.0
