Thanks, rang that number - no one answers then answerphone says "Mailbox Full, can't accept anymore Messages"
Spoke to a supplier who advise that they have closed all their overseas offices in Europe, Australia, everywhere...... They said they have stopped selling Samil inverters until their situation becomes clear.

    Wow!
Sorry travellerboy, don't know what to think about that?
They were fairly big and generally had a good product and offering?

  • 18 January 2017 a company "Samil Power UK Limited" entered a Creditors Voluntary Liquidation owing about £1.5 million. Probably the Samil being discussed.

Their premises in Reading were available for letting as of March 2017 and that fits in with the story that all their overseas offices were closing.

Not sure where the Carlisle address fits in.

Their on-line vi-plant recording service also seemed to stopped working sometime in March 2017, but it's back on-line now with all the data intact; so that could just have been one of their regular outages and nothing to worry about.

now that samil have gone bust, can you claim off the installer, for a new inverter, if still under guarantee

Any legal claim is actually against whoever you paid for the inverter. That could be the installer, credit card company, finance company etc.

That's a shame. My Samil inverter just went pop after 5 years. It had an extended 10 year warranty too - and the installer has ceased trading too so looks like i'm facing an expensive bill for a replacement.

I may be talking nonsense here as I'm not totally clear what is covered, but check if you had insurance-backed warranty on the purchase. Insurance-backed warranty is intended to cover you if the installer and anyone else is out of business, but I'm not sure to what extent it covers anything beyond appropriate installation.
