How long after starting a job should you receive your contract?

I started my job two weeks ago but still waiting for them to post me my contract how long should I wait for before I ask them where it is? I have no idea when I'm getting paid and hopefully it's stated in the contract. I have emailed them back the forms they told me to fill out but they haven't even emailed back saying they received when I clearly stated in the email (which I have sent twice) to let me know that they received my email. Does this unprofessional?

A written statement within 2 months.
    Don’t be a can’t, be a can.
  • I've never taken a job without a contract first; it's nuts to do so. How do you confirm your working hours, your holiday, sick pay allowance ect?

They emailed me a handbook which had that information in.

Is it bad to email them and ask them about when my pay day is?

Then that counts as your contract

    "Contract terms could be:

in a written contract, or similar document like a written statement of employment
    verbally agreed
in an employee handbook or on a company notice board
in an offer letter from the employer
required by law (eg an employer must pay employees at least the National Minimum Wage)
in collective agreements - negotiated agreements between employers and trade unions or staff associations
implied terms - automatically part of a contract even if they’re not written down"

I usually issue a contract after 2 weeks, just in case someone decides the job is not for them in the first few days, or we decide;)!

Normally the basic terms have been discussed at the interview and then confirmed in the offer letter.

Not in my opinion. If they haven't clarified it with you, then I would in your shoes.

    You ask them?

I've started many jobs where I knew these things but hadn't received a formal contract. The contract was generally signed in the first few days.

No, it's a perfectly reasonable and every day request.
