Is it possible to get sacked if you don't make sales in call centre?

I'm thinking of working in a call centre but not this done before and wondering if I don't make sales can I get sacked?

If your job involves making sales then yes.

If it doesn't then no you wouldn't get sacked.

  • Depends on product/industry. Depends on character. (This won't go down well) but How ludicrous and out there the OTE salary is. Depends on your view of the product being sold. Whether you can omit the words (ouch, here it comes) 'obviously' and 'can't'

Things to do with car sales, media advertising, media customer retention, (I don't think you get as much now) but those true marketing firms for PPI were heavy going if you ask me.

No two call centre's are really the same fortunately - I've worked in a team once where we all get the chop when low sales didn't mean it was viable to continue. Must admit I should have become suspicious after I started when they then said there was no targets, that well it wouldn't be a long opportunity. Still it was a cool 3 months, never forgotten.

I've turned up to customer service interview jobs before now and it's been said you do realise this is really a sales job - and vise versa as I've turned up to a job promising the whole no selling here in a vehicle breakdown centre which I just couldn't get to grips with, the whole pin pointing of customers just didn't get me going.

If it is a sales job, then of course you can. Why would any company retain someone who is contributing nothing?

Actually of course whatever kind of job it is, it is possible for you to get sacked within the first two years for any reason at all, barring discrimination. They could sack you for making too many sales if they liked.
