Internal Transfer Help

Hi All,
I've been trying to look up my rights/the general company procedures for my situation but I can only find information in relation to someone applying internally for a vacant position.
I have 2 jobs and I'm pretty happy in both of them however while I was on annual leave I found out a member of staff from another area who is having to relocate to this area has requested an internal transfer into my position, what are the general procedures surrounding this and what are my rights?
I assume it's somewhat similar to redundancy in that we will both have to apply for the job, go through the process and the most qualified will get the position? We have other jobs vacant which match the wage and contracted hours however she's clearly stated she does not want those jobs. I have checked my companies policies and employee handbook but there are no public policies in relation to my situation. Any advice would be great.
Thanks

When you say you have a job that someone else wants - what are the surrounding circumstances - is it 0 hour? have you been there over 2 years?0

I'm contracted 30 hours a week and have been with the company for 4 years and have been in this job role for a year and a half.0

OK so that cant just be taken away from you, just because someone else wants the role.
I'd suggest perhaps there's some miscommunication? Are you in a union?0 -
That's reassuring to know! I have a spotless record, full attendance and I go above and beyond my job role so I'm sure I am safe, it was just stuck at the back of my mind. I'm yet to be told this by the boss however it has come from someone close to the source and one of the very few people I trust!
I'm not in a union, it was my next step.0 -
Asking is not getting! What this person wants doesn't mean that the employer would entertain the notion. But it's too late to join a union for this problem. The entire point is that you join before you have problems.0

if the company met other criteria to reduce the workforce then a fair redundancy could happen.
if the company would prefer that other person in the role they could consider(very carefully) bumping.0
