Life after university: what next?
Comments
-
I passed out of university in 2005 when I was 22, with a foundation degree in Product Design and I decided to cut short my studies by another couple of years, hence having a two year gap instead of the usual one. This I believe was due to a combination of personel issues and financial struggles that did affect my studies. I was going/or planning to return to complete my honours in 2007, but unfortuntely never came off. I don't know if it was how things would pan out or it was likely no plan was in place after I finished my studies. So I decided work in the manufacturing sector, but with the 2007/2008 - 2010 downturn in the economy, I was thinking of going back to again complete my studies in 2010 - 2012, but what with the student loan finance system changing time again, I wasn't sure if this was even going to pan out.
I believe the original concept, was the plan to keep studying through from leaving college to university and I was toiling the idea of doing a Masters or even a Doctorate afterwards and hypothetically I had the dream of designing my own products. I think it was getting into fear of debt from it all that my career plans were placed back on the shelf.
Since 2010, I have changed direction twice and sort of go between jobs in the service sector. Even now I am looking to change direction again, but what I don't know . . . I am just doing voluntary work at the moment just to keep my marbles ticking over!
I know it was alittle long to read, but I thought I share my experiences.
Good luck!0
