Where can I buy cheap paperbacks?

Just wondered where I can buy paperbacks cheap without huge postal charges.
I belong to a book club and the book we are reading this month is
Virgin Blue Tracy Chevalier.
Tried all the usual places, including the works, second hand book store and Asda but could only find it in WH Smiths for £7. I hate buying anything in WHSmiths, usual reasons about inflated profits etc.
So I had a look on Amazon for used copies, wow a copy for 19p and another for 20p, the downside is the postage, £2.75. Sounds excessive.
So has anyone any suggestions? I think part of the problem is that there are 20 of us and at least 15 are cheapskates like myself and will be all checking the same places to try and get cheap copies.
(I have got Augusts book already so I should be looking ahead and scouting out Septembers now

Perhaps not a favourite with everyone but Ebay is quite good for cheap books.0

On this occasion this website doesnt seem to be any cheaper than amazon but I do the like idea behind the site.
Your book seems to be £3.75 delivered but on the plus side if you sell some old books here they pay you £3 a pop!

I used this site to buy some rather less cerebral reading (Miffy!) and the postage for orders over £20 is free, you could all club together to get it? Your book is currently out of stock but £5.03 when they have it (in 12 days)

I know it isn't quite the same but our library allows you to reserve books free of charge but only free if you reserve online (£1 if you reserve from in the library?!). They will borrow the book from any library in the county then deliver it to your library and call you to let you know when it is in. I have done this for some titles I really want but don't want to pay hard back prices for.The smallest deed is greater than the grandest intention ~ Anonymous0

Does anyone know how the postage works on amazon? Just thought, I've got 4 books listed for meetings up until November so if I ordered all 4 on one lot of postage it wouldnt be so bad. Plus it would save huge ammounts of time each month, searching the books out.
Mind you, I suppose I am probally living in hope that all 4 will be in stock and all 4 will be 19 or 20p
Our local library is supposed to have online reservation but I havent tried it yet.

This might sound odd but if you've got a hospital near you, have a look to see if they have a WRVS shop.
My Mum runs our local WRVC shop & they sell brand new paperbacks really cheaply - I always buy my holiday reads from them.
You're also supporting a charity at the same time!0 -
If it's a recent-ish title make sure you try The Book People (www.thebookpeople.co.uk). They often have great reductions on books, though p&p is pricey.
In my reading group it is always the person who proposes the book that has to buy them for everybody which is a right royal pain in the backside as many outlets are suspicious of bulk orders or just don't have the stock. If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor...0
