A more constructive response would have been explaining to the boss that you cannot do your work without computer access, asking when you would be getting a new one and what you should do in the meantime.
Not telling your FB "friends".
If it does look like dismissal is on the cards then you should try to negotiate a neutral reference.
This is what you should have done. It didn't need a rant - on Facebook or face to face! For whatever reason there weren't enough resources for everyone. It's a minor inconvenience, not a drama. And in the great scheme of things, not "unfairness". You explain to your manager calmly what the issue is, what the consequences are, and ask what they want from you. If your are going to "go off on one" - whether you thought it in private or not- then at least save it for something that is worth being angry about. Not having computer access is not worth losing your job over.
I suggest a very contrite apology, and explain that you didn't mean it but you were under a lot of stress because your parrot died (or whatever your excuse is that had nothing to do with work) and things just escalated and you took it all out on this one simple thing. You realise that you've been an idiot and hope to get a chance to put things right.0 -
In my first job after university, I posted something on social media along the lines of being bored, while at work. Someone reported it, and my manager pulled me in. Thankfully I was given an informal telling off, and that was all, but I learnt my lesson, one which I'll take through my career going forward.
Ironically, I left the company, then returned in a higher position, hired by that manager. For me, it worked out, but I realise how under different management it could have been a lot worse.
I hope it works out for you, and you take the lesson throughout your career, like I have.0 -
To be honest, see it this way. You were working in a crappy work place, so much so that you took a chance, the thing boomeranged in your face.
You're out of a job, you'll find yourself a better one and in time you'll think back about how you actually did yourself a favour without realising it.0 -
It's very similar to the time building services removed my screens by mistake when I needed them to price up a deal.
Just like you, I found out who I needed to speak to, asked that they sort me out some new ones as soon as possible, and then arranged to use a workstation of a colleague one fooor down who was on holiday.
For some reason I wasn't pulled in for a disciplinary, I was just left to get on with my work for a couple of hours until they called to let me know it was all sorted.0 -
OP I do. not get this at all. if you are using a pseudonym in Facebook, and what you uploaded does not identify you (e.g. names, company name, location, photographs, etc.), why do you have to admit to doing it?
FWIW it could be done by somebody else.
But seriously, delete your Facebook account and use WhatsApp instead.0 -

I think all you can do is apologise and abide by the request not to contact anyone etc. I would suggest job hunting just in case. Its impossible to know the outcome. Some companies are more lenient than others. Most bof us have messed up at one time or other. You will bounce back.
I read something a few years ago long before Facebook was invented.
"don't ever put in writing something you wouldn't want to be heard in court".
Even more valid today.0
