Mortgage Application and Sickness

My partner has had a reoccurring injury since last year. We finally have our full application on Saturday after having our DIP accepted last month. However, he is now off work again as he may require an operation. We have all the necessary wage slips they require. Should we mention anything or will we be ok to carry on as normal?

Comments

  • Does he still get paid whilst off sick? I would say that may be a factor.
  • Only statutory sick pay, this is why we had to apply now as he had been on a back to work and not on full wage until last 10 weeks
  • If it is only statutory sick pay I would advise you to speak to your financial advisor as it may affect things, they take proof of income to mean 'usual rate of pay' so if you know this will not be your income going forward you may be committing fraud by proceeding.

Just my 2 pence though I'm not a mortgage advisor.
  • Thank you, I just don't know what to do because we have been holding this house for months as we know the lady who is selling and I don't want to let her down :(
