No more Sunday collections from post boxes

Royal Mail is stopping collections from all post boxes from 28th October.
Don't waste 1st class stamps on letters after that date where you think there may be a collection on Sunday, as it isn't going to happen from the end of this month.

Haven't seen this advertised much yet.

Any odds that the Saturday collections will go next?

Royal Mail only collect from a low proportion of post boxes.
I posted it for info - there has been little notice of it around where I live and work.

From 28th October 2007, we will no longer be collecting mail from business premises or post boxes on a Sunday.

As Royal Mail now operates in a fully competitive postal market we need to work efficiently to ensure our customers continue to receive a high quality of service.

Royal Mail collects from 115,000 post boxes Monday to Saturday and from just 18,000 postboxes on Sundays. Customer demand for a Sunday service is limited and accounts for less than one per cent of all mail posted each week. These small volumes means it costs us four times as much to handle this mail than items collected on other days.

Their logic ...... from the RM website.
