Damp / Smoke smell in furniture

Greetings all,

I am inheriting a chest of drawers that has immense sentimental value. Because of who it belonged to I very much want to use this furniture. However, the flat it will be coming out of has a strong smell of what I think is a combination of cigarette smoke and damp.

Does anyone have experience of cleaning wood with a deeply impregnated smell. Did it work? How did you do it?

Looks like the simplest solution (pun intended) Zoflora worked.

Neither superior nor search engine - I had posted on that thread and was too lazy to retype! Ctrl C & Ctrl P of the link was much easier

(and I was surprised at the successful product - something I'd never have thought of using)

We saved a wooden ottaman when my mum died, she was a very heavy smoker and we found putting a" Neutradol gel odour destroyer" from the £ shop in with the lid shut for a few weeks absorbed the smell , must admit never thought of Zoflora expect it would have been quicker.
