Mortgage shortfall advice

I split up with my partner in 2009 and she then refused to pay anything towards the joint mortgage we had.

long story short I struggled on for a while but the flat was reposessed by the lender in September 2011.

I know she went bankrupt the following year.

I've managed to dig myself out of most of the financial disaster of that year but the mortgage has a shortfall of £28k which I know following her bankruptcy I am saddled with.

The lender has sent me 2 letters in that time simply reminding me there is a debt outstanding and that they'd like it paid... but theres been nothing more from them.

Im in Scotland. Where do I stand with this now? I read that there was a code of practice that enders would not "commence proceedings" after 6 years on a shortfall.. but im unsure if those two letters count as "commencing proceedings'

Any advice?
