Hospital Takes One Of Its Surgeons To Court Over Parking

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05/15/surgeon-couldnt-find-hospital-parking-space-fined-dumped-car/

Such bad reporting! He did not park "illegally" and it wasn't a "fine". At least the judge seemed to be on his side stating

" I do accept Mr Darby's evidence that parking at the hospital is very difficult for staff members, patients and others who legitimately need to be at the hospital. "However my duty is to apply the law as I understand it to be on the facts of the case."

The "Times" report is even worse than this saying he had parked "unlawfully".
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

As this almost certainly cost the NHS more than they were awarded, one wonders whether this was the best use of our taxes.

"Unlawful", "illegal", "fine", what does it matter? Many people call a Dyson a Hoover.

Judge Comiskey added: "I do accept Mr Darby's evidence that parking at the hospital is very difficult for staff members, patients and others who legitimately need to be at the hospital.

Which 'law' is she referring to? Was there a PPC in the background here?

It's just appalling that an employer should be 'prosecuting' one of its own employees for such a petty issue.

I'm not him, but I think I'd be tempted to tell them to 'drop it or sack me'. I'm sure a surgeon would find little difficulty in finding a far better employer to work for.

Seemingly not, reading the staff parking procedures everything is done in house and as of last year they were they using Trethowans as their solicitors to pursue cases to court.

Answers a few questions. The amount of NHS funds being handed over to Trethowans must be phenomenal. They are particularly active in pursuing patients at Aintree Hospital, Liverpool.

What a waste of tax payers money, especially when the NHS says it is so strapped for cash!
