Vodaphone/Lowell Financial debt

Hoping to get some advice,
I received a letter today out of the blue from a company called Lowell Financial claiming that they had taken over the management of my debt from Vodaphone and that they had tried to contact me several times regarding paying off my debt.
Firstly, I have never heard of them, nor do I know anything about this debt. My contract with Vodaphone was paid off in 2013 due to the appalling service I received from them and as far as I was aware my account with them was fully settled and closed. I have no idea how they've even got hold of my new address but have been advised that it could be because I've had to fill out a DBS for my new job.
I was hoping for some advice as to the best course of action to take, as like I say this has come completely out of the blue and I have been unable to get hold of anyone from Vodaphone to clarify.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

They've probably bought the account, and not paid a lot for it.
They'll have tracked you through your credit file - not a DBS.0
