Running Away from Debts?

Hi there everybody I am new to this forum, so hello!

I have a quick question...is it possible to "run away" from debts.

I have moved house 4 times in two years and have debts with Welcome Finance, o2, EDF energy to name a few and I have not told them my new address. I have told a select few such as my current bank but guess I am to lazy and worried about telling these people my new address to maybe avoid the debt?

I am on the electoral role now so I am every morning waiting for the postman to see some nasty letters but they never come (to my delight i know i am bad). People like Welcome and O2 i have not paid for over a year now. Will I get a CCJ without me knowing?

I am now trying to sort out my debts as 3 other councils tracked me down and issued liability orders against me :confused: whcih I am now paying. So can you run away from debts? Can CCJ be issued without me knowing?

    what are the councils after you for?
    Running away is NEVER a good idea..

    Just council tax bills I have failed to pay as I moved house so often, by the tiem they issue a bill I have moved!

    Believe me hon they will find you in the end. Best thing to do is contact them, explain why things haven't been getting paid (due to moving before getting the bill) and ask for a payment plan. Otherwise you might find that the first contact you get regarding this debt will be from credit collectors not the council.

    you do realise you can go to jail for unpaid council tax????

    Thanks rain in sane....but what about my unsecured debts like welcome finance, I went for job interview a couple of months ago as a Account Manager and they seem so slap dash saying they write alot of debts off so tempted to take the risk :-s ( I turned down the job anyway because of my consious lol i cant spell either btw)

    Sorry there is a misunderstanding... I have sorted out ALL of my council tax arrears! All have been paid and are upto date. I am running away from Unsecured debts like Welcome and O2 and EDF only

    oh that's not so bad then I suppose!!! Had me worried then.. lol.
    It's still serious though.. you face a court making you bankrupt without your knowledge if you keep running away.. the problem will just get worse..

    Can i be made bankrupt? I only rent and am in about 7k of debt?

    immoral_angeluk I would never mess with the council as I dont like the thought of prison lol the councils were very helpful tbh
