Contract changes and holidays

So I'm currently working for a large retail store. My contracts going to be made permanent, however I'm going on holiday mid June, and obviously couldn't book holidays as wasn't sure if contract would be terminated etc. How do I go about even trying to get holidays in such short notice?

ask/tell them nicely
You could accept the continuation or renewal of the existing temp contract on any terms you wanted.
There option then for them is to not renew if they don't want you going on holiday.
It does make a difference if your current contract is direct or through agency and if you have been there for more than 2 years
if direct and more than 2 years then the proper assumption should be it will be renewed(so warn them of your plans), to not renew would be redundancy(or some other lawful reason).0
