Paying Tax/NI When abroad BUT still trading online

I am looking for some advice on my current situation.

I have lived and worked in China for the last seven years. I am employed by a local company.

Whilst I am here I have also tried to supplement my income by selling things on eBay and Amazon.

I buy stuff locally and then sell it on the UK ebay and Amazon. The money from those sites goes into my UK bank account.

Am I a sole trader? Should I be registered for tax and paying my own NI contributions? Or is the fact that I am based outside of the UK going to change that?

The things which confuses me is that I am based and send everything from within China but use my UK bank account.

I don't make vast amounts of money selling online, definitely less than the personal allowance, but I am aware that if I was in the UK I would have to be registered.

Any thoughts or help are greatly appreciated!

This is only a Chinese tax question, not a UK one.

As you've been out if the UK for so long you are no longer a UK tax resident. As said above, you need to speak to somebody who knows how tax works in China as that is where you should be paying tax.

The only income you should be paying UK tax on as a non resident is UK sources of income, e.g. UK bank interest or a UK pension.
