Moorcroft / RBS - I don't agree with the claimed balance

Hi all,
Over 10 years ago when I had significant financial issues, my RBS Visa card debt was dealt with by Intrum Justitia. I arranged to pay £1 per month.
A few months ago my payment was returned to the bank. A while later I received a letter from Moorcroft claiming an amount several hundred pounds greater than the balance I have recorded.
I have told them that I am happy to pay off the balance in my records in full but if they want any more then they will need to provide some evidence to back up their claim.
There have been a number of letters back and forward but they have not complied. Any thoughts on what I should do next? Just to reiterate - I do not dispute that I owe them money, just the amount.
Cheers

So basically you are in deadlock.
If the case went to court, you could formally dispute the balance at that stage, until that happens you can't do much else.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. There may well have been interest and fees added to the previous balance, has the balance that you have "recorded" included these?0

Yes, I believe so. I have supplied them with a complete breakdown of the account since 2004 - I do not consider it unreasonable for them to substantiate their claim. Please note that any posts that I make on here are based on my personal opinion, experience and what I have read.0 -
Ok.
To put this on a more formal footing, you need to send a CCA request to them ASAP.
They may ignore your own requests for information, but when you make a request under sec 77/79 consumer credit act 1978, and enclose the statutory £1 payment, it becomes a formal request, with potentially severe consequences for them, if they dont comply.
I trust your familiar with CCA requests ?
If not, use Google to find out.
Basically the whole account can be unenforceable if they do not comply, as part of the request, they are supposed to supply statements, breakdown of charges etc, so you should be able to ascertain your position.

I am struggling to understand how a £1 payment can be returned, unless it was a DD?0
