Casual Work Tax Free

in Cutting tax
Hello,
I understand that you can now earn up to £1000 for occasional work as an addition to a main job and that you don't have to declare this tax as of the 5th April 2017. I've done some work for a company that was undertaken from December 2016 to February 2017. I was paid £150 for this work and the company paid this money into my bank on the 1st May, i.e. in the current tax year which permits tax free earnings up to £1000.
My question is, do I have to declare this money to HMRC, since I did the work in the previous tax year but I was paid in the current tax year? I'm unsure whether it's determined on when I did the work or when I was paid. Obviously I'm hopeful of the latter
Thanks in advance!

Your information is out of date and you need to declare the income. How you do this depends on whether it was a one off or part of your own business.
If a one off them I would treat the income as for this year, 2017:18.

Thanks for that information and advice. You're right, my information was out of date as every site I looked at talked about this tax relief and I'd not found anything to state that they'd dropped it. Stupid internet!
What a huge disappointment but at least I know now. Thanks again!0
