Advice for weekday morning tube journey

Please can I ask advice from anyone on here that has experience of London public transport.

I am arriving into Euston at around 8am on a weekday and I need to travel to the London Excel arena.

The travel planner suggests Euston->Waterloo->Canning Town -> Prince Regent (around 50 mins). Does anyone know if I can buy my ticket at Euston to cover the travel as I think part of that is the Docklands light railway or will I need to buy along the way.
I would like to be at the venue for 9am so am keen to do it as swiftly as possible.
PS - am happy to walk any of the route or consider a taxi but i would imagine travel by car would be slower.

Many Thanks in advance

You could buy a ticket, but far easier and cheaper to use a contactless bank card to tap in at Euston and out at Excel.

That route sounds simplest but it will be heaving! No way to avoid crowds at 8am though!

A slightly quieter route would be:

Walk from Euston to Euston Square (less than 5 minutes)
Circle line eastbound to Tower Hill
Walk to Tower Gateway (less than 5 minutes)
    DLR to Prince Regent

Same price as your route above although it would take a few minutes longer. As above, a contactless card is the easiest way to do this - just remember to touch out at Prince Regent which has no barriers.

I agree, using a contactless bank card is the easiest and cheapest way to do this. The DLR and underground are all part of the the Transport for London system so the transfers will be seamless form a payment perspective. I wouldn't think of taking a taxi for this journey, especially at 08.00 as it will take a very long time and be extremely expensive.

Thanks for the advice - I thought I might need an Oyster (or whatever its called now) to tap in/out but I have a contactless credit card that I can use.

I see on the TfL web site that I don't get a physical ticket but if challenged I tap the card on the inspectors card reader as proof.

Looks like that's my questions about paying sorted, I just need to work out my bestroute from A to B. Might have a more walking route and a less-walking route planned depending on the weather on the day!

    Thanks to all
