Slowcooker Help

I have some braising steak and veg in the fridge was gonna make a stew in the slow cooker with it was wondering if i should cook it on high for a couple of hours first or would it be ok to just leave on low
I need the meal to be read for 4pm

I would probably brown it off in a frying pan first and then stick it on high with hot liquid/stock in the slow cooker to get it going.
Keep an eye on it and you can always turn it down later if it seems to be doing a bit fast.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -

Personally I never brown meat before putting it into the slow cooker.
I find that my slow cooker (a 34 year old Prestige Crock-Pot) cooks better on HIGH than LOW (these are the only options on mine), so depending when I can switch it on and what time we plan to eat, I prefer to use HIGH.
