Natwest Mortgage advice from other customers

Hi, just wondered if anybody had past experience of the current Natwest mortgage procedure? We had a DIP given last Friday and were asked to provide the money for the valuation. The money wasn't taken from the account and we believed this week the application was going to the underwriters. Today the full amount for the valuation was taken from the account. Does anyone know which stage this puts us at? If Natwest has instructed the valuation have we passed through the underwriters? I am aware that final checks will be carried out before an offer is made to make sure our circumstances haven't changed but am I right in thinking with Natwest the instruction for a valuation is a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel?! Just wondered if anybody had any past recent experience, may help me sleep tonight!

Hi Maddison,
We had our offer from Natwest last month ( it took just 9 days and that included Easter)
I believe Natwest now instruct for valuation on the same day application is received to speed the process up, but also have been advised that they have a quick look over things first - so its got to be a good sign.
If after valuation you are not offered the mortgage due to affordability, then they usually offer a refund of the valuation fee ( minus the £75 admin fee)
You can also check your progress via their mortgage tracker on their website ( if you are going through a broker like we did, just ask for your mortgage reference number)
Hope this helps, and good luck!!!0 -
Thank you for the reply. Don't think I'll relax at all until I have a final confirmation but it's good to know it's a good sign! I didn't think they would instruct a valuation without at least looking to see if there was anything glaring they'd reject you on anyway, not that we feel we have anything to
Worry about but with a 95% you never know. Thanks again, nice to hear of your positive experience

Natwest were speedy with us, appointment Thursday before Easter. Then we had approval subject to valuation on the Tuesday after Easter. Unfortunately we had to wait ten days for the valuation to actually happen. And then it was another bank holiday!! Only took a day or so after that to get confirmed offer email.0

Hi all, new to the forum just to share my experience with natwest so far. They definitely instruct day 1 valuation. They must do initial credit check but they will then start the underwritting process at the same time. From my tracker I could see that they completed the valuation before my broker packaged the application. Now it is in processing stage with various documents checks are showing on the tracker. Hopefully I will hear by the end of the week which will make it 8 days from submission of application which is very speedy and efficient. I hope the underwriter passes it.
I noticed credit check on AIP then several follow up checks ( one of which corresponds to D1 which I presume they use as an initial check before they instruct valuation).0
