BergHOFF ... A bargain......I think!

Whilst scouring my local charity shop on Saturday, I found a pan/casserole for £4.
I have never seen anything like it before.
It is 20 cm, heavy with a very thick base, a glass lid with a thermo knob on it - an inbuilt temperature gauge.
Basically, you cook in it and know what temperature the food is cooking at.
It looks expensive and if anyone has ever heard of/used a BergHOFF pan, i would be intrigued to know a bit more about them.
A trawl on the Internet told me little, other than that they seem to sell in South Africa and cost a fortune.
I'm still not too sure what the ideas of the thermo knob is though or if I could safely use it in the oven.

I've never heard of them either - but just a thought ............
If they sell in South Africa - have you thought of checking out what electricity it uses? Sounds like some kind of slowcooker/electric casserole - did it come with a booklet of any kind.
Hope somebody else on here can be more useful than I am.
Good luck!
silly me - just re-read your original question - it now doesn't sound as thought it's an electrical item at all!
Have you seen this website? it could be useful
