My pension is with the company as I have been there a fair few years. The job I got is a lower pay than I was on.

This potentially needs addressing. I don't know your age, service or pension arrangements but if your in a final salary pension you may want to look at ringfencing the accrued benefits associated with your higher pay before dropping your earnings (this may or not be possible but it should be investigated).

    In future join a union.

sorry I posted twice. okay thanks for letting me know that about HR useful for the future! At least it is on record what has happened so in future if others feel they can speak up a picture can be built up of how terrible someone is at managing.

Sounds like you've caused trouble and handed your notice in? Whatever problems you have, you should be able to sit down and talk about them - if not with the manager, then at least HR and express concerns.

When my friend left he wrote 5 pages on all the 'wrong-doings' his manager had done and got the manager into a bit of trouble, I say a bit because over time managers do things to hide up things etc and some of them were really bad.

Did anything change? No everyone forgot about it a week or so later and life moved on.

You have a bigger issue because the job is an internal transfer.

It is not just a case of withdrawing notice you are also rejecting the job offer.

no "heat of the moment" as in FU I quit.
This was a considered application for another job internally through to job offer and resigning.

As above, if you've handed your notice in you may not be eligible for the new role, or if they do take you on it may be as a new starter so you lose service/rights etc. They may not act on it but you probably should be checking!

I may have this wrong by my reading of the situation is that the OP has given notice to his current boss that they will be terminating the current role for a different role in the company.

This is not normally needed for transfers as there is usually a mutual agreement within the company to make a transfer.

giving notice is usually reserved for the situations where the current boos refuses to let you go, notice is the ultimate employee leverage to get a transfers to happen.

Ah yes, could indeed be that, I took it as they have resigned from the company, not the current role.

I have decided not to stay as the job is too stressful for my health. It has been difficult to decide as I get on well with my colleagues and they tried to get me to re track the resignation. Long term I know I can not stay so better sooner than later. The money is no good if you haven't got your health.
Thank you everyone for taking the time to read and reply.
