The order things happen????????????

Just an update for you all on my situation:
5 of my creditors are accepting a reduced monthly payment for periods varying from 6 to 12 months.
MBNA have not responded to any of my letters (will be resending the letters to them recorded delivery so they can't deny my corresspondance if it goes to court)
American Express are the b******s!!!
They've passed my debt onto AIC (Allied International Credit) and these are a real nasty bunch of people who shout down the telephone at me, tell me to get money from my family, sell my car!! and there best line "contact the council to get put on the housing list as we will be repossesing your home!! (the debt is £3,000)
I now ignore Allied's calls as they are VERY abusive so today I've written to them (recorded delivery) saying I want to come to an ammicable arrangement to start paying my debt off BUT I CAN'T PAY MONEY I DON'T HAVE!!!
The one thing that does concern me is that in there letter they say they don't accept cheques as method of payment!! Is this a sneaky way of stopping me from making token payments? (ADVICE HERE WOULD BE USEFULL)
......Sorry to go on but that's where I'm at!!
I feeling very down at the moment so ANY advice or ideas would be very much appreciated.

AIC are the pits - They did all of the above to me - I think one particular day there must have been a supervisor there or the call was being recorded as the guy was nice as pie, I commented that he was nicer to speak to than the screaming banshee I usually got - tuned out they were one and the same and he totally denied ever being anything but polite and sympathetic to my case!!!!!
I asked to set up a standing order my end - they refused and insisted that I fillin their forms and return it to them (I didn't trust them not to change details etc so refused) eventually they passed the debt onto another company called Newman, who are still annoying - but not nearly as aggressive and will accept standing orders
Hope that helps0 -

Hi natters!
Yeah they are the pits, like you say!
At the moment I've only had the initial letter from AIC demanding the full amount (which obviously I can't pay) and they've told me they don't accept cheques, did they try this with you nattters?
I'm hoping they will agree to monthly payments at a level I can afford.
Could you let me know what other tactics Allied tried with you before they passed the debt onto Newman?
Thanks.
