DRO diary

Hi,

This is my diary as we (myself and partner) start on our DRO.

I'm sending our paperwork off tomorrow, I can't wait for it to finally happen.

Our son deserves the best in life so we are getting a handle on our finances now so we can provide for him as he grows up.

Finally sent off our DRO paperwork today! So happy - I know it needs to be checked etc but can't wait for it to all be done!

Feels like a relief already - I can't imagine the feeling when it's granted!

Hi- thanks JoJo he's our inspiration.

Not much to report - I forgot to send off our Noddle reports so I did that this afternoon. That's all!

Hey, just wondering who you're doing your DRO through and if there has been any news/updates? :)

I can sympathise with just wanting to get it all sorted - I have just contacted NDL to get the ball rolling...

    Hi Incy,

No updates apart from I didn't send off our Noddle reports and when I did some pages were missing!

Just waiting on them to check it all now, fingers crossed!

    Good luck with your application!

I've applied for a pre paid debit card, so I can move across our weekly spends and when it's gone it's gone. I've tried the envelope method before and I just dip into other envelopes so I'm hoping having only 1 card will make me more responsible.

I've also opens a post office budget card so I can save for Christmas - I have printed off some saving challenges from Pintrest to help me and wrote down my goal in the SMART way. I'm hoping to save £20 each Friday so by 3/12 I would have £500 on there. If I struggle I will drop this down to £10 a week.

Trying to be positive about the future, which is hard but hopefully I'll get there.

I'm struggling with how to decide my weekly budget and also what days I should use!

We get some income weekly and some 4 weekly, we get some every Friday and then oh gets paid on a Wednesday every 4 weeks.

I don't know what will work best! I think I will try and do Wednesday-Tuesday to see how I get on, I can always change if I struggle! Just got to wait on my card now too

Budgeting seems to be the hardest bit. I've just joined the sealed pot challenge a few days ago in the hope of managing to save something for Christmas. Rationale being if it's in a sealed pit that I can't open then I can't dip into it! I'm not managing to put much at all in at the moment though hopefully if the DRO goes smoothly then I'll be able to up it a little!

Yes, it's difficult when you have money coming in weekly as well as 4 weekly - though could you pay monthly bills from your 4 weekly pay and just pay weekly shopping etc from your weekly income?
