Help me reduce my shopping bill!!

I too balk at the delivery charge but always find a money off/delivery code on-line and cover it that way. I spend a LOT less shopping from my chair than if I'm tripping the aisles and been tempted
My tips for on-line shopping are-
check the special offers first and see if you can menu plan from those
give yourself plenty of time to do the shop-don't rush (I often start it one evening and go back and revise it the next morning before putting it through)
Make a rule-if you run out then make do til the next shop-it's the popping in for a few bits and coming out with two carriers of shopping that blows my budget !

its tough isn't it! I'm so used to not even thinking about what I spend at the supermarket and buying tons of luxurys - half of which would go out of date - i know, so wasteful! but i'm quite enjoying trying to bargain hunt - and the difference in shopping cost is amazing. We used to spend £150 a week on food for the four of us - not including entertaining or eating out. Just by switching to value and actually limiting the treat/luxury items its down to about £75 a week. Still trying to adjust our outgoings to a £1000 income drop is definately a challange!

duchy, i know what you mean. i've often 'popped' into sainsburys for things for one meal and spent £50 without having any more actually 'food'. treats, bath bits and bobs, a magazine, a treat for the kids, a bottle of wine......MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

I have gone from having a near on £2000 income to having a £900 one, i am on sick leave at the moment and it doesn't look like i will be going back for a while. As for wasting i am terrible, there is so much i throw out i have started writing a list everytime i chuck something that has gone off or out of date in the bin, i am adding it up and it's at nearly £40 already! I'm enjoying bargain hunting too, there is a good website https://www.mealsmatter.org where you can put in all the stuff in your cupboard put in your favourite recipies and pick some of theirs and they tell you what you need, giving you your shopping list. It is really good it takes some organisation but it is worth doing. By the way have you change providers for your bills to see if you can get them cheaper?

I am terrible for the popping in for milk coming out with £40 worth, I must be a supermarket managers dream as I love browsing the aisles and cant' resist bargains, am trying to be much more savvy this month, trying the Oct Grocery challenge thing as an experiment with myself. I got given a second freezer which I thought would be a great money saving tool as I planned to fill it with frozen stuff to save on wastage of fresh, but as we speak it is full of frost (old non frost free type) and I am sure it drinks electricity so not really money saving at all am tempted to get shot of it, but then Id probably buy a new super duper freezer in its place so more expense again.0
