in Cutting tax
Hi all, these forums have been invaluable to me over the years so here's my latest thing I need help with, I am employed and paye but over the past few years after doing self assessment have ended up having to pay 2500 back one year and now this year another 1200, I basivally just need someone to look at say my past ten years tax codes against my p60etc as I just feel I have been screwed by hmrc. I had a divorce, child maintenance ans other things like. 20k share payment that o think was all taxed wrong. Just need an idea who to turn to as I am useless with things like this

An accountant perhaps? But you can only go back 4 years.0

You do realise what the "self" in self assessment refers to??
Or are you suggesting HMRC have routinely ignored your tax returns and made up their own figures?
Tax codes are pretty much irrelevant anyway once the year ends as it is what actually happened that matters, otherwise all the posters on here who have been due refunds because they were on the emergency tax code would never get their refunds.0
