I am surprised the OR agreed to the bankruptcy if the debt is less than 20k (from what I have read) and you have (from what you said originally) money coming in and not much going out in the way of essentials (i.e rent, travel, food type stuff that they would look at for an ipa).
I would have hoped they would have suggested an alternative.

Did you fill in your income on the form or say £0 like your expenditure?

Apologies if I have read anything wrong and I hope you get this sorted quickly ☺

Gahh - OP - I forgot the pension - do you pay into a work place pension? Is it possible to pay in a little more than you do already - up to 8% maybe? It might be a bit late to do it now (OR will want to see payslips) but worth a shot?

Money in the bank now - yes, you can use it for normal everyday expenses.
You also need a new bank account - try and open one tomorrow and move any DD's over to it and get your salary paid into it as your regular account will be frozen once the OR tells the bank. Barclays, Nationwide...most banks offer a 'basic account' but you may need to ask for it specifically. Its ok to tell them you are BR. Its an account with everything a normal account has with the exception of course of having no overdraft facility.

Your partner is going to have to look at some sort of debt management so you both need to get your heads together. Start with contacting the loans companies and arrange a minimum/token payment arrangement while you 'get further debt advice' to give yourself some time. Start with calling national debtline or stepchange tomorrow - both also have great websites. CAB can be a bit hit and miss - some are amazing and some aren't - it depends on the expertise of the local branch volunteers.

I do have a pension at work but it's quite recently set up so unsure of all the details around it, might be a bit late now though like you say. Did my last SOA look okay to you? Thanks for the info regarding my bank account, I will look at opening a new one tomorrow :)

Yeah I did find it strange when I started looking into it and saw its not normally for people who have debts less than £20,000. I honeslty can't remember that I filled out on the form I was in that much of a panic, when I check on the website though at the document uploaded that page just seems to be blank

20k Is 4 times the minimum amount for going BR, so why would you be surprised that the OR agreed to the BR?

    Hi,

So I have spoken to the OR's office today after me sending the email on Friday and she basically said I could go down the road of getting my BR anuled but there is no guarantee the court would accept and I would also have to pay fees of what could be close to £2000. So I have decided that continuing with it is my only option really! I have the interview tomorrow to discuss everything. Could anyone give me examples of what they are paying in an IPA at the minute? Also, should I look at opening a new bank account before or after the interview? And should I withdraw some money from what's in my bank to live on for the rest of the month? If so, what would you think to be a reasonable amount?

    Thanks :)

If your interview is tomorrow I would save all questions for the examiner, there is no time for you to do anything at this late stage.
Each case is very different, good luck tomorrow come back and let us know how it goes.

Don't worry - draw out enough cash to see tide you over for a week or two and just wait for the OR now. Do a new bank account after the interview.
    Relax:
If it s phone interview here are a few tips:
1.The OR will be typing up notes as they go along so if there are pauses in the conversation - don't feel the need to keep talking - just wait.
    2. Make sure you will not be disturbed, be somewhere quiet with other phones turned off etc.
    3. Have a pen and some paper handy
    4. Have a bottle or water or cup of tea to hand

It might just be a preliminary conversation rather than a financial interview.
Everyone's circumstances are different - no two IPAs are the same.
Come back to us after the interview. :)
