Hi my husband and I are looking to start up a commercial cleaning company including small maintenance jobs for the general public. We know about registering a company name, liability ins and business use of a vehicle. We can also do our own advertising.
Do we need anything else regarding the equipment we use, health and safety etc.

Absolutely. You are going to be using chemicals and equipment so need to be sure about safe handling. Commercial grade cleaning products (detergents etc) should have documentation available from the manufacturer you may be required to keep a copy of. If you're going to be employing people you need to look at staff training in regards to the use of the cleaning products and equipment. You need to look at H&S, do they need to wear safety glasses and use protect their skin because of some of the chemicals and cleaning agents used for example? Are your clients going to have any requirements such as needing your workers to wair hairnets in a food factory?
