  • Wow, thanks for all of the replies, I'm quite shocked lol

Yes Jenna, I am used to the flexibility of an overdraft (after all its only a phone call away and I get a weeks wage overnight) and I do buy drinks and other things for my mates. Im to generous or "stupid" with my money lol.
I just don't know how mucyh money is worth anymore.

For example, I'd give the aftershave guy that hangs around in the toilets of a nightclub stupid amounts of money, without thinking that I can't afford to, until it comes to the end of the month and I have to increase my overdraft to pay a direct debit.

I have explained to my mates that I can't buy rounds or anything now, so I don't think that is a problem anymore. From what you and others have said, I'l leave the loan for now and focus on controlling myself and my budget.

    keren29 - Yes my insurance is £50 a week (£195 a month), almost £2500 a year mainly because I have a DR10 for drink driving at 16 on my moped :-/

mikegould - lol, yes I have recently turned 19 and you are right about the real world and I'm here to get organised. I didn't percieve it as a rant at all! I could sell my car as it is worth at least £1800 and I got it for £1300, but it is very reliable and to be honest, £2400 for my insurance was a bargain (although I got a quote for £2200, but it expired). By buying a cheaper car, I would have spare cash, but that would probably end up going on repairs etc.

tallyhoh - Yes my car is essential, I'd be miserable without it. I also needed to get on the "car ladder" asap and build my no claims to reduce my insurance (the only other way would be to wait til Im 21, which I cannot do with my current job).

redrabbit29 - Thanks for the SOA, it does put things into perspective.
I do use my car alot (commuting to work, picking up and taking home girlfriend home, picking up and taking home brother from work, picking up and taking home brother from work) I don't pick them up from work all of the time for the record.

I will make my dinners from now on because Im just eating my money (and my eyes are bigger than my belly, so I waste alot and also buy alot of luxury foods). Btw its a Toyota Corolla, I bought from a friend who was going to part exchange, so it was a bargain.

I forgot to say that the £30 a week car debt is to my mum who has a tab on me (£900) which increases when I have to pay for car tax or MOT etc. I don't pay interest or anything and she doesnt charge.

Thanks to everyone for your help!
