Reduction of hours

Good Evening,

I currently work 4 days a week term time only, my initial contract was 3 days a week ( started there approx 6 yrs ago). I increased my hours to 4 days a week, in August 2015. The additional day was first issued on a year long temporary contract, this was renewed in August 2016.

The situation at work has changed and I am now taking on significant amounts of work which should be paid at the grade higher. Work do not want to regrade me at the correct grade. I am now throughly fed up that my good will has been abused.

I want to return to my 3 days a week, can anyone see any problems with this besides my work being !!!!ed!!

    Yes.
    (a) They don't have to agree, and
    (b) they can agree and leave you with this work to do.

this was renewed in August 2016.

By that do you mean the temporary variation in your contract for 1 year. It depends on how the arrangement has been done. If it's been effected as a 1 year fixed variation, followed by another 1 year fixed variation, then just don't agree to the next variation when it comes up in August 2017. Ideally you're looking for express provisions that allow you to treat the variation as temporary which will then allow you to revert back to the original position when the varied period has concluded. It does depend on how this has been arranged with your employer though as it is entirely possible that you've locked yourself in to 4 days a week.
