As of today we are mortgage free
Got a redemption figure yesterday and paid it all off then cancelled all the associated insurances . Amazing to think we have gone from being around £20 k in debt and on a dmp to clearing the mortgage of £45 k in a little over 10 years and whilst earning around £20 k a year .
Now time to renovate the house and following that we will travel a bit probably just starting in this country for a couple of relaxing weekends away before in a few years time hopefully getting to go on our dream holiday which will be visiting the USA which if as good as we hope we can then repeat yearly to different states .
I would like to thank everybody on these boards who have offered advice and support over the past decade , you have no idea how opening up the forum and reading posts can keep someone focused during the tough times when the easiest thing would be to wobble and lose discipline .
To anybody starting out on either journey , best of luck , and use the support on here to motivate you and you will reach the end eventually and the feeling knowing you have kept disciplined and achieved it is something that cannot be measured in pound notes .
Right , time to go and stalk doozergirl for ideas on how to fix a house that has been untouched for 15 years apart from the bathroom .9 -
