Do I need a Solicitor for a Remortgage?

I am in the process of remortgaging as our fixed term is about to come to an end. We're switching lenders from Natwest to Royal Bank of Scotland. I would have thought it should be quite straightforward - it's just myself and my partner on the leasehold. We also have share of the freehold with one other person who owns the flat above us (it's a converted terraced house), but the mortgage is just for our flat, not the whole building. My question is, is it worth getting a solicitor to oversee things for us? The lender has their own solicitor who acts on their behalf. If we do need a solicitor does anyone know roughly how much they would charge for dealing with a remortgage such as this?

As RBS and natwest are the same lender, I would have assumed they had exactly the same deals.
