Proof of Deposit

Hi,

has anyone recently shown proof of deposit when applying for a mortgage?

I'm in a bit of a pickle. The Nationwide are asking for printed statements from my bank accounts. No problem, except the Birmingham Midshires say it will take 5-10 working days.

Does anyone know a way around getting printed statements that you know will be acceptable. I'm happy to use a different bank/building society if necessary but I don't want to lose this house by having to wait.

The Nationwide said on the phone they wouldn't accept screenshots but the website says I can email them as .jpegs...

Thanks,
Ed.

Do you not get an annual statement?

Have you spoken to the agents? I do this a lot for my clients (I prefer to deal with them, as they tend to be a little more relaxed when dealing with me over the buyers). Explan your application is in, it has been looked over but they have asked for proof of deposit which will take a week or so to get from your savings provider and then a couple of extra days to be assessed by an underwriter. If they know what the delay is, I tend to find they are more forgiving as you are being proactive in keeping them up to speed.

    Thanks ACG.

Yes, I have an annual statement but it needs to be no less than a month old, and this was sent last year.

I'll do as you suggest. Hopefully that will appease them.
  • I had to provide proof of deposit recently for a Nationwide mortgage application. The deposit was in an online savings account which doesn't do statements (not even download able pdfs). I ended up having to go into a branch where they wrote me a letter confirming the account balance on that day, whilst I waited for their head office to send a proper statement. Nationwide did accept a scanned copy the letter as proof. Mind you, the savings account was nationwide too which probably helped!

We applied for our mortgage through Nationwide recently and they were happy to accept statements downloaded from our bank as long as the HTTP address was clearly visible on statements.

Thanks Mathias! I'll phone them tomorrow and see if they will go for that.
