40th Vow Renewal in Catholic Church

I've been invited to a vow renewal - of an old school friend. Never been to one before.
Shall probably be going on my own - question - same sort of clothes as to a wedding? - I'll probably do a cream or red jacket and a floaty longish skirt and maybe a fake flower in the lapel.
I read that gifts aren't the thing for renewals but as its a 40th Anniversary too I am assuming that it should be Anniversary cards and also a small gift of some sort - I have no idea what yet!
