Asda egg custard new recipe

What have Asda done to their egg custards . They are not sweet , very thick tasteless pastry , not filled enough and have grains of nutmeg on the top, and the twin/four packs have been put up by 20p . I had to return mine and thought it was a faulty batch at first, but was told that other people had complained about them . I shall not be buying anymore and have warned other egg custard lovers not to bother. Anyone else unhappy ?

I totally agree. I won't be buying them again and £2 for two Extra Special egg custards is a bit of a leap.

That's a shame as although not a regular at Asda when I am in a store aI have often bought them. Thanks for the heads up. Maybe if they have had lots of complaints they will go back to the original recipe.

To put them up by 20% for the pack of 2 and 40% for the pack of 4 is not a good idea, as they are not going to be bought a second time by most people, makes you wonder if they have tasters when a new recipe is developed. They need to do rigorous market research first.

I don't think I have seen every single review so damning on a product. Asda will be bonkers to continue with them.

Well aren't the products promoted as being picked 'by You'.

But when the costs of a product gets in the way, the 'you' part is easily forgotten.

It's just a cost cutting money grabbing exercise which will lead them to loss of sales. Serves Asda right.

No this product is "Baker's Selection". The baker must have been glad to get rid of them!

Asda are already moving away from the "Chosen By You" brand. I don't think they had invested in it properly for a few years and last year they started re-labelling many items as just "Asda"

So they basically fire the tasting panel and bring in the bean counters instead. Great...not.
