Should i figure out how to get stains out or buy new primark duvet?

I am moving out of a room I rent in a couple of weeks and I know my letting agents will be looking for any reason not to give me my full deposit back! My room came with a double duvet - from Primark. The duvet now has blood stains on it, and it won't fit in the washing machine. How would you recommend trying to get these out? And if it is just a Primark duvet is it worth me trying to get them out or should I just buy a new one?
Does anyone know how much a double duvet in Primark would cost now?

Buy a new one - you'll spend more on stain removers (and your time!) than you would on a new duvet cover.
Cost about £14 - see https://www.primark.com/en/products/category/home,bedroom0 -
Buy a new 1, make sure you get the right 1.
Next place your in why not buy your own duvet and store the 1 that comes with the property, use them vac bags for example or another alternative.0 -
You can try self-service Laundry.
My local one cost £6 for those big washing machine which double duvet.
Also, remember to use biological washing powder with 40 degree wash and those stain remover spray before you wash.
But the most easiest thing is buy a new one.0 -
Cold water and a bar of soap will take it out if it is only on the cover. If it's through to the stuffing then I'd just buy a new one and take the old one with you.0

Cold water and soap won't remove blood stains. Primark no longer does duvets (only duvet covers), but there are masses of ultra-cheap suppliers such as Wilko, Argos etc. Find one which is the same tog rating and then tell the agent you intend to replace it with that - they'll be hard pressed to argue, given that Primark's will have been bottom of the range.0

Buy a new double duvet. If the landlords claim your deposit on something else, take the new duvet when you leave. It could be worth putting it through a washing machine just to check first, but it's not the washing itself which would be a problem with the duvet but the drying and getting the filling to be deposited evenly around the duvet. You can take a duvet to most laundrettes if spot cleaning isn't your bag (though if it is, either try the Old Style Money Savers board or use Ariel washing gel, soaking for 15 mins first) but ask the laundrette first if you take that option as they'll have more experience than you with if it works out or not.
It's more than likely the duvet you had would have been discarded when you leave anyway so if you do replace it with a brand new one, make this known to the landlord as it may help swing things in your favour as it saves them forking out for a new duvet.0 -
If the landlord/agent is reasonable, it would be worth checking whether the duvet would be disposed of anyway. They might not charge in that case.0

In a house full of teenagers, I routinely replace duvets with supermarket own brand. Life is too short & the laundry heap high enough already.
The point about checking with the landlord if they were going to bin the duvet anyway is absolutely valid, as is telling them you've left a new sealed-in-bag one if you so choose.
All the best with your next place!0 -
if you take it to a launderette you'll need to factor in the cost of drying too.
If the blood stains have dried, they may not completely come out anyway.
When my son was renting near Uni, his bedding was provided but the landlord replaced it all with new when he left. So, as previously mentioned, you may not need to replace it.
But, if you do have to, does the inventory list it specifically as a primark duvet, or just that it is a duvet? If you replace it with a new one of appropriate size & tog rating from elsewhere, that should be perfectly acceptable.0 -
Marks and Spencer have some quite cheap duvets if you look on the website. You can order one for free delivery to a named shop. This would save trailing round looking for one and allow you to collect when it's convenient for you.0
